Today we will start to really focus on the skills required to take the puck to the net and score

WARM UP – skate with pucks

ALL IN

Fast as you can

Hop every line

Change direction at every line (forwards backwards)

Stations:

1. 2 nets take pass and go in on net and try to raise the puck finish by skating around the net

2 Stick handle through the high pylons

3. Skate around an individual tire both directions

4. 2 nets Take a pass and BACKHAND shot on net – finish by skating behind the net

 

5. 2 nets – pick up the puck (no pass) and do a wrap round both ways.

6. Figure 8 around two pylons

7. Slalom around tires (no puck)

8. 2 nets – one timer shot

GAME Mini games across the ice 2 pucks per game  to prepare for min games in December

REMEMBER NO PRACTICE NEXT WEEK NOV 17

This week’s practice is almost the same as last weeks:

This week’s practice will focus on :

1. Power

2. Changing directions while skating forwards (right or left)

3. Handling the puck (stick handling and passing)

4. Stopping (looking both ways)

5. Skating backwards

Warm up – AS ALWAYS – skating with pucks ( clockwise this time)

ALL IN (no pucks) (5 minutes)

1. Fast as you can to the other end and back

2. Stop at every line and wave (5 stops) always looking at the stands and back

3. Skating backwards there and back

STATIONS (5 minutes each)

1. TAKE A PASS AND GO IN AND SHOOT ON NET (2 nets required)

Focus: Receive pass, skate with puck ,move around obstacle  shoot on net

2. STICK HANDLE  through 8 pylons -( larger stick pylons) (4 there and 4 back)

Focus: Head up while stick handling, rotate lower hand on stick

3. BOUNCE THE PUCK OFF ONE LARGE TIRE – RECOVER MOVE TO NEXT TIRE – forehand one way, back hand the other.

Focus: Moving both ways to get puck, prediction of the bounce, hard shot

4. HOTDOG, HAMBURGER, FRIES PASSING GAME

Focus: Call for pass, pass to someone who is ready

STATIONS 2

1. AVOID THE OBSTACLE IN FRONT OF NET AND SHOOT

Focus: Skate hard to net, instructor points  one way or the other and shoot (Forehand or backhand) – avoid “V” obstacle and shoot

2. SHOOTING AGAINST THE BOARDS

Focus: Forehand and back hand shots – body position, stick and arm movement, HARD shots!

3. POWER PUSH

Push the large tire across the ice around the pylon and back

4. SKATING INSIDE THE CIRCLES WITH RINGETTE RINGS

Focus: Avoidance, head up , lifting stick, skate hard

GAME: TRY TO HIT THE TIRE (5 minutes)

Instructors move tire “goals” around the ice  players shoot and trying to hit the tire

This week’s practice will focus on :

1. Power

4. Stopping (looking both ways)

GAME: TRY TO HIT THE TIRE (5 minutes)

2 instructors(one foot in  in tire) defend against players shooting and trying to hit the tire
