SKILL DEVELOPMENT DURING THE GAMES

Posted: December 28, 2012 in Uncategorized

During games coaches are encouraged to send one third of their players to the neutral zone for skill development. In this way players will spend less time sitting and more time on ice.

During this week’s game players will be working on stopping, skating backwards, balance and doing leg crossovers.

I am really impressed with how much they have improved. Backward skating and stopping still needs lots of work. Puck control (stick handling, passing and shooting) can not be worked on during the games since extra pucks could enter the game .

After the first game I assume that everyone was excited. Remember a first goal is a huge accomplishment and worthy of a celebration! David
