MINI GAME SCHEDULE FOR IP2

Posted: November 25, 2013 in Uncategorized

The mini game schedule is on the NMHA website.

Below is our first few time slots. You will notice that teams do not play every time slot. This is because we have 10 teams and only 4 game times. Mini games are really fun for our Timbits and their fans. In order to make it clear for everyone I thought I would repeat a few of the points I outlined in a previous blog:

Two games will be taking place across the ice on either side of the neutral zone. This means that we will have four teams of up to 18 involved at the same time. This is a lot of players.  1/3 of each team will play a 3 minute shift while the other 2/3 are on the bench. We will change every three minutes so all players will play 5 shifts. Bench reps or their designates will need to be on the bench to move players.

Last year I ran a skill based session between the two games so players are more active. I will be discussing this with bench reps next week. If we go this way then all players would practice for 15 minutes and play for 15 minutes and only sit for 15 minutes.

All teams are expected to dress a goalie. As always I will bring the goalie sticks.

Scores are not kept and there are no winners in the game. Working on the scoring title will have to wait until Novice!

My biggest challenge is getting that many players changed and ready to get on the ice since we only have 2 dressing rooms there will be 36+ players per room. Parents can really help the process by bringing their Timbits dressed ( except for helmet and skates).

Attendance often drops a little because of holiday travel plans. This means more ice for the players who can make it. Let your bench reps know if you will not be able to attend a game or practice. A special note-  the night we are at the BELLSENSPLEX there is a SENS home game at the CT centre  so driving to the games will take a little longer.

IF YOU ARE NOT FOLLOWING THIS BLOG – YOU SHOULD BE SINCE IT CONTAINS LOTS OF INFORMATION ON WHAT WE ARE DOING IN IP2 THIS  SEASON.
