Merry Christmas to all

Posted: December 24, 2013 in Uncategorized

The “Christmas break” has officially started – a time when we all get some bonus time with our families.IOn behalf of all the IP2 instructors I hope you all have a safe and fun filled holiday.

Three points before the holidays:

1. If during the holidays your family schedule conflicts with your assigned time for a practice then feel free to come at another time. We will manage the “rainbow” of team colours.

2, Public skating is available indoors at many of the arenas and outdoors at Centre Point and the Rink of Dreams downtown.(got to love outdoor rinks with zambonis!!). Take the  opportunity for your whole family to skate and for the Timbits to show off their skills.

For those whop have built their own backyard rinks – you are amazing – your kids are lucky to have you!!!

3. Now that the ODR’s (outdoor rinks).are open it is important that you keep in mind three things: ODR ice really dulls skates so you will need to sharpen skates more frequently….  ODR’s usually have very rough ice (I apologize to those who have perfect ice on their own ODR) so full gear is in my opinion a requirement…..I still remember freezing my ears under a hockey helmet on an ODR – They still swell up to this day when they get cold – helmets don’t fit over toques but they do fit over some of the nylon skull caps that you can buy. Frostbite is a very real possibility – and I ask you to keep it in mind.
