When we don’t have a full box of Timbits

Posted: January 2, 2014 in Uncategorized

During the holiday period our numbers have been much lower than the 18-20 players that are registered on every team. last weekend two teams had only 9 players at practice. If this is a function of family vacations or other plans then it will disappear when the holiday season is over. The bench reps have shown lots of flexibility in arranging lines for games and deciding how to use the neutral zone activities. The best practice seems to be to match what the other teams does. This means that sometimes they play 4 on 4. My only concern is if the drop in numbers of players has to do with players not enjoying the experience or if parents are not totally committed to getting their kids  to practice or games. Next year in Novice teams will have some 6 am practices – attendance at these will not be optional – it is an expectation of playing hockey. Bench reps need to see if they can determine the reason for our number drop on some teams. We are only half way through our practices and just starting our games so we have lots of time to figure this out. Let me know what you find out.
