BLACK PUCKS VERSUS BLUE PUCKS IN IP2

Posted: March 7, 2015 in Uncategorized

One parent has made a good suggestion – that we introduce the official black pucks (a little heavier) than the blue pucks that are mandated by Hockey Canada for the Initiation program. The black pucks are used in Novice… something I personally wish didn’t happen. They are heavier than the blue pucks and their two biggest impacts are:

1. It is much harder to raise the puck when shooting on net

2. Passes have to be harder to get the puck to the player

We will use black pucks in our last two practices and I will set up an activity to allow players to see the difference between them.

I will also have  station working on faceoffs.

It is important to get our Timbits ready for their next hockey experience.
