IP1 Practice Outline Saturday March 21 Merivale Arena 8:00 – 1:00

Posted: March 18, 2015 in Uncategorized

With this being the last weekend of March break our numbers are likely to still be a little low.

We have 3 practices left and it is important that we review all the essential skills that we want players to grasp before entering IP2: Skating with power, stopping, skating backwards, puck handling and shooting with power are the big five. It is also important that we begin the “goodbye” process making sure that they all know how impressed we are with their progress.

I also think the last three practices should be extra exciting and fun filled.

WARM UP: Skate with pucks

ALL IN:

  1. Fast as you can
  2. Apart together
  3. One foot balance over every line (right then left coming back)
  4. Fall at every line
  5. Stop at every line
  6. Forward backward transition at every line

STATIONS: INSTRUCTORS WILL STAY WITH THEIR GROUP AND ROTATE WITH THEM

  1. One timer shot on net
  2. 4 puck rapid shot
  3. Backward skating
  4. Pylon skate lift
  5. Accurate passing
  6. One on none breakaway

WRAP UP: MINI GAME – instructors against players cross ice
