IP2 Practice Plan Saturday Oct 29, 2016 Bell Arena 3-7 Practice 5

Last week’s practice was simply perfect!

I kniow I said I wouldn’t change anything BUT I have changed two drills:

Puck competition is now one on one witha single puck

Tire pull has been added since several of our younger IP2’s are still using only one foot to push.

Overall goals:

  1. Power in the push with both feet
  2. Balance and weight transfer
  3. Puck handling
  4. Stopping
  5. Backward skating

WARM UP – skate with pucks NO MORE THAN 5 MINUTES

ALL IN :

Fast as you can x 2

One, two, three  – glide

One knee touch at every line

Stop at every line with alternating sides ( face stands) x 2

Forward backward transition at every line

ALL IN WITH PUCKS ALONG SIDE OF RINK:

Bounce and retrieve

 

STATIONS (5) INSTRUCTORS ROTATE WITH THEIR PLAYERS

Goaltending at one end in the crease 1 net  – other goalie is in drill 5

  1. Backward skating “PUSH WITH YOUR TOES” around pylons
  2. Rapid shot competition 2 small nets (one puck at a time)
  3. Tire Pull – POWER!!
  4. Don’t lose your puck in the face off circle at centre ice
  5. Two- passing through the tires ending with a shot on net  1 net

WRAP UP:    Break away on goalie – 2 NETS at opposite ends CUT ACROSS THE FACE OF THE NET – 4 tire wall set up 8 feet out from the crease
