WARM UP: Skate with pucks (5 minutes)

ALL IN: 10 minutes or less

Fast as you can

Forward backward transition

Stop at every line

WITH PUCKS!

  1. Stickhandle
  2. Chip and go
  3. Drop puck at centre ice and retrieve on the way back

6 Stations: 30 minutes 4 nets needed

  1. Corner 1- BLACK pucks and full size net    one line and a line  of 6 buckets forming a “T”  Player skates with a puck through the pylons and to the branch point and either goes right or left for shot on net with plastic goalie
  2. Corner 2 – WITH BUCKETS circle – cross over forwards and backwards SLOW IT DOWN
  3. BLUE LINE _ Offside drill Puck in You in.  Puck out everyone out
  4. RED/BLUE Backward skating around a pylon course. EMPHASIZE Change of direction.
  5. Corner 3 centred on faceoff circle. Puck competition with two medium nets 1 on 1. Once puck leaves the circle the drill is over
  6. Corner 4 WITH goalie TWO lines one player goes around the net ON FOREHAND and passes out to player in front for shot on goalie
  7. Goalie training in full size net in crease

WRAP UP (IF TIME)  – two net all in game with three pucks

Corner 1 Basketball

Corner 2 Full size net- three pucks – shoot as fast as you can

Between blue and red line  Backward skating holding a stick across the chest of a partner. Partner does NOT PUSH!!! (SAFETY ISSUE)

Centred on the blue line   Skate through 5 pylons pick up puck…  skate through 3 pylons and shoot on full size net with goalie

Corner 3 Ringette keep away

 Corner 4  Puck challenge into corner – fight for puck and shoot on medium net

WARM UP: Skate with balls

1,2,3  glide and hold until the next line

Lift your foot and hold it until the next line one way – fall and get up at every line coming back

Stop at every line x 2

3 Small area games using 4 medium size nets and the regular nets. – TWO pucks per game.

5 stations:

Corner 1 Inside the ringette line  – Rubber chicken keep away. Do not cross into the other drill .Mark with pylons.

Corner 2 Medium  hockey nets- three pucks shoot as fast as you can (2 lines using two nets). HIGH ENERGY Emphasis is on speed and weight transfer.

Blue / past the Red line   Skate through slightly  offset pylons – pick up puck and shoot on the medium  hockey nets (2 lines) Note – spread the lines so the instructor can be between the two line and dish the passes off laterally. Players alternate lines.

Centred on the blue line     Backward skating holding a stick across the chest of a partner. Partner does NOT PUSH!!! (SAFETY ISSUE)

Inside the ringette line line–  “Hockquet” with small “gates” to put the puck through 2 paths 6 gates each – one forehand one backhand

Tunnel up and say goodbye

  3. 1,2,3 STOP right: 1,2,3 STOP left

3 MINI GAMES Divide teams on the side boards 5 minutes

Full size nets with goalies 1 puck

2 medium hockey net games 2 pucks each

6 Stations: 30 minutes 4 nets needed

Net 1 Goalie training Lou will cover this.

  1. Corner 1- WITH goalie One player in front of the net one behind the net – pass comes from behind the net. Switch lines.
  2. Corner 2 – circle – cross over forwards and backwards around the faceoff circle
  3. BLUE /RED Forward / backward partner pass.
  4. RED/BLUE Backward skating around a pylon course.
  5. Corner 3 centred on faceoff circle. Puck competition with one medium net 1 on 1. Once puck leaves the circle the drill is over
  6. Corner 4 BLACK pucks and net 4 with one line and a wall of 5 buckets  + ABS goalie.    Player skates to the wall (don’t let them cheat up) and goes either right or left to shoot as they cross in front of the net.
